HC rejects bail petition of 2 accused
The High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail petitions of two accused, including an underage one, in sensational Rifat Sharif murder case.
An HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mujibur Rahman passed the order dropping their petitions from its cause list.
The accused are Nazmul Hasan,14, a 10th grader, and Rafiul Islam Rabbi.
Lawyer Md Sagir Hossain stood on behalf of Nazmul Hasan, while Jahangir Alam for Rafiul Islam and Deputy attorney general Bashir Ullah represented the state in the court.
On October 15, a Barguna court rejected the bail petition of Nazmul, who is now in Jashore juvenile correction centre. His lawyer again pleaded for his bail on October 27 challenging the court order.
Rifat Sharif, 22, was hacked to death by criminals in front of his wife Minni in broad daylight in the district town on June 26. The incident was caught on surveillance camera.
