Hasina urges new MPs to serve people equally
Awami League (AL) President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday (Jan 3) advised new MPs to serve all the people equally.

Asking them to refrain from using power to reap personal gain, she said “It does not matter who gave vote for ‘boat’, the electoral symbol of AL, or not.  We will work for the development of everyone”.

About a dozen lawmakers who attended the meeting AL Parliamentary Party at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, cited these while talking to reporters this afternoon.

At the first end of the meeting, Sheikh Hasina was unanimously elected chief of the Awami League Parliamentary Party.

According to meeting sources, Sheikh Hasina advised her colleagues to stand beside the general public. You will have to keep up your popularity through working for the people.

“Power is not everlasting. Nobody would think power is your own resources. We are now in power. But power is not perpetual in any way. Do not use the power to make personal gains. Don’t make it means of acquiring wealth” she added.

“We have debt to the people which must be repaid. The debt will be repaid through development” Hasina further said.

Sheikh Hasina reiterated her firm stance against corruption, terrorism, militancy and drugs, saying there will be no room for such menaces on the soil of Bangladesh.

Urging all to be alert about conspiracy, Hasina said “Keep it in your mind that the conspiracy is not over. Conspiracy is still going on. We have to deal with this.”
