Food adulteration: 2 bakeries fined Tk 19 lakh
A mobile court on Tuesday fined two bakeries Tk 19 lakh for food adulteration in Madarbari area of the city.
The bakeries are – Progoti Bakery and Tamanna Bakery.
A Rab-7 mobile court fined Progoti Bakery Tk 13 lakh and sentenced its manager to three days in jail for selling adulterated food.
Tamanna Bakery was fined Tk 6 lakh for a similar offence.
A huge quantity of unhygienic and expired food was destroyed during the drive.
