200 silos to be built across country
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said 200 more silos (food warehouses) would be constructed across the country to ensure the necessary food reserves.
“Each of them will have a capacity of 5,000 tons,” the minister said this while visiting activity of silo at Jaymonirghol area of Mongla on Monday (August 5).
Sadhan Chandra Majumder said: “Currently there is food surplus in the country. Crops were not wasted in the flood. As a result, there is no reason for food crisis. According to the government's decision, 46 percent of the food is being imported through Mongla Port.”
