DCs asked to ensure adulteration-free food
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has said that the deputy commissioners (DCs) have been ordered to be more stringent so that people can consume adulteration-free food.

Food minister was talking to reporters after the first session of the third day of the Deputy Commissioners Conference in the Secretariat on Tuesday (July 16).

The Food Minister said, "Our instruction is that we will have a safe food hub in every district." We asked the DCs to be more rigid so that people can get adulteration free food.

He said the DCs have placed a proposal to make warehouses and safe food center in different places. We will do this; we have undertaken the project in this regard.

Regarding rice procurement activities, the minister said, "We are buying rice, now we will procure four lakh tonnes of rice. A sum of 1,15,000 tons of rice have been purchased till Monday (July 15)."

DCs have cooperated to strengthen it and to make our people more active. We gave instructions to the DCs so that rice could be collected from the farmers under the direct supervision of Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO).

In reply to a query about ‘different districts of the country have affected by flashflood due to rains and onrush of water from upstream, whether there is any danger of food crisis in future’ the minister said, there is no crisis. We have adequate stock of food. In the food warehouses, there is not only food but also adequate stock of relief. We are ready to deal with any situation.

He said now there is no chance of crop loss, as there is no crop in the field. Now, it is time to plant paddy.
