Foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen found on Wednesday urged the United Country Security Council (UNSC) to take bold decision on implementing the Paris Weather Arrangement (COP21) to make sure security and peace across nations.
“The UN protection council cannot evade this (climate change) issue any more. Let them take bold decision in discussion with relevant stakeholders for an improved world,” he explained in a video affirmation screened at the Berlin Weather and Security Conference 2020 on Tuesday, studies BSS.
Bangladesh minister warned that evading the climate change concern for a longer time by the UNSC is likely to increase potential of serious security and stability problems for most countries and the world.
Accordingly, Momen said the UNSC must support implement the Paris Agreement and arrange necessary resources to face the issues of climate change.
The Paris Agreement aims to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change by keeping global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius aswell as to support the ability of countries to manage the impacts of climate change.
“Climate issue isn't only our development issue, not only it’s a security concern, it really is our existential issue and this should be handled and managed by collaboration of most countries and we should follow the Paris Contract,” Momen said, adding “We should implement it for the global security, stability and welfare of the people of this planet.”
Bangladesh foreign minister appealed the world leaders to interact in collaboration and on partnership to save the planet from destruction. “We should work together to ensure protection and peace across nations,” he said.
