Barrister Mainul shown arrested in Digital Security Act
Barrister Mainul Hosein was shown arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Noor passed the order on Thursday after Ziaul Haque, Gulshan Police Station SI and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a petition to show Mainul as arrested.

After the hearing, the court also fixed November 29 for submission of the police report.

Earlier on October 24, Sumona Akhter Lily, Awami League Youth and Sports sub-committee member, filed a case against barrister Mainul Hosein under the Digital Security Act with Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge Ash-Shams Jaglul Hussein under sections 25 (2) and 29 of the act, reports UNB.

After hearing the statement of the complainant, the court also ordered Gulshan Police Station to list the case as FIR.

On October 22, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested the former caretaker government adviser from the capital in a defamation case filed in Rangpur district.

Later, he was sent to jail by a Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on the following day.

During the talk-show 'Ekattorer Journal' on private TV channel Ekattor TV, on September 16, Masuda Bhatti asked Mainul, "You say you're there in the Jatiya Oikyafront as a citizen of the country but in social networking sites, many people are saying you're there as a representative of Jamaat."

Angered by the comment, Mainul said, "I'm thanking you for your audacity and I want to believe you as 'characterless'. There's no question about Jamaat link's with me and what question you have asked is embarrassing for me."
