Cancellation of conflicting clauses of Digital Security Act demanded
The department of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) of Rajshahi University (RU) has formed a human chain demanding cancellation of conflicting clauses with freedom of expression and independent journalism under the Digital Security Act on Wednesday.

Professor Abdullah Al Mamun, president of MCJ Department of Rajshahi University, said, "The practice of digital communication has begun in Bangladesh. But the act would hindrance the practice of free thinking and writing. Through a non-bailable section of this law, one can be punished before trial. Different groups can abuse this law. There is considerable scope for misuse. For free journalism, we think it is a big obstacle. We believe that certain sections of this law must be changed.”

Among others, Assistant Professor Mamun Abdul Kaiyum, Pradip Kumar Panday, Mashihur Rahman, Assistant Professor Kazi Mamun Haider Rana, Mahabur Rahman Aninda, Assistant Professor Abdullah Baki, and more than two hundred students of the department attended the human chain in front of the department at around 11.15 am.
