Fire ravages Dhaka’s Sat Tala Slum, 40 shanties gutted
At least 40 shanties were damaged as a massive fire broke out at Sat Tala Slum in the capital’s Mohakhali area on Mon night.

The fire broke out at about 11.45 pm and 11 units of Fire Provider and Civil Defense brought the fire in order at about 1.00 am.

No-one was injured by the fire.

Cause of the fire cannot be known immediately.

Fire Assistance and Civil Protection director (Operation and Protection) Lieutenant Colonel Zillur Rahman told journalists from the location a committee will be formed to investigate the fire incident.

The fire may have gutted 40 to 60 shanties, said the official.

“Eleven units of Fire Services reached the spot at about 11.50 pm but narrow roads and insufficient water sources produced obstacles to douse the fire quickly,” he added.

Locals, slum dwellers and volunteers of Dhaka North City Corporation were also assisted Fire Assistance members to bring the fire in order.
