Fahad murder accused Setu sent to jail after remand
A Dhaka court sent another accused to jail after remand in a case filed over the sensational murder of (BUET) student Abrar Fahad.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akhter sent SM Mahmud Setu to jail as investigation officer (IO) and detective branch (DB) inspector Wahiduzzaman produced him before the court on Saturday (November 2) after four-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jasim Uddin placed Setu on a four-day remand on October 28.
Detective branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Setu from capital’s Bangla Motor area on October 27.
DB sources said although name of Setu was not there in the case filed over the gruesome murder, but many accused have taken his name in their confessional statements.
Abrar Fahad, aged 21, a student of electrical and electronic engineering department at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was tortured to death reportedly by BCL leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university on October 7.
19 persons were accused in the case. Police arrested 21 persons. Out of these 21 people, 7 have been given confessional statements at court.
