EVM to be used in 2 Dhaka city polls: CEC
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) will be used in two Dhaka City Corporations polls.
He also expressed hope that the upcoming elections will be fair and held peacefully,
The CEC came up with the announcement while talking to reporters after exchanging views with election commission officials of district and upazila levels at Barishal’s regional election office on Saturday (December 28).
He also hoped that the elections for the two Dhaka city corporations will be competitive.
CEC chief said: “We will use EVMs for two city elections in Dhaka in order to arrange flawless elections. So that people can vote. I don't want to keep any chances of being flawed here. The elections will be competitive. Hopefully, all parties will give candidates.”
Elections to Dhaka North City Corporation and Dhaka South City Corporation were slated for January 30.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced the schedule at Media Center of EC building on Sunday (December 22).
He said the deadline for submission of nomination papers was fixed on December 31, scrutiny of nomination papers on January 2, withdrawal of candidacy on January 9, symbol allocation on January 10. And voting will be held on January 30.
