EC to ask army for operating EVMs in national polls
The Election Commission (EC) has planned to take Armed forces’ help operating Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in the upcoming national elections in casting and counting votes.
Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said it to reporters at EC building in city’s Agargaon area on Saturday afternoon (Nov 10).
He said members of the armed forces will be requested to operate the EVMs during the polls. They will also be given trainings for the operations.
The secretary however mentioned that the decision has not been finalized yet.
A national level EVM exhibition will be held at Bangabandhu Conference center on Nov 12 where political parties were invited to join. They can observe EVM operation by technical teams there.
