DSCSC delegates visit EWMGL media outlets
The Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) delegates visited media outlets of the East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) at Bashundhara Residential Area in Dhaka on Thursday (Oct 17). 

The East West Media Group Ltd is an associate organisation of Bashundhara Group (BG) Ltd, a leading business conglomerate of the country.  The six media outlets of EWMGL are - Banglanews24.com, daily sun, Bangladesh Pratidin, Kaler Kantho, NEWS24 TV and Radio Capital. 

Nearly 270 members led by DSCSC Chief Instructor Brig Gen S M Kamrul Hassan, ndc, hdmc, psc made the visit. There were 37 instructors and 158 trainees in the team. 

Upon arrival at EWMGL, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, along with editors of other media outlets and senior officials welcomed the delegation members.

Daily Sun editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Kaler Kantho editor Imdadul Haq Milan, BanglaNews.com editor Jewel Mazhar, acting editor of Kaler Kantho Mostofa Kamal, Daily Sun Consulting Editor Nadeem Qadir, Radio Capital Executive Director Hasnain Khurshid, Head of News of News24 TV Rahul Raha and its Head of Current Affairs Samia Rahman were among others present. 
  
The visit aimed at imparting knowledge to the participants of DSCSC Course 2019-20 about role and function of the media. 

Apart from the officers of Bangladesh Armed Forces among the trainees, there are armed forces officers from India, Indonesia, Maldives, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Turkey, Uganda, United States and Zambia.

During their visit to East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) compound, the DSCSC delegates exchanged views with the journalists on various professional issues. 

During their visit, a discussion on the relations between Armed Forces and journalists was held at the EWMGL at noon. Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam moderated the event. 

Naem Nizam said in this age of social media, when false information or rumors are spread right away, people trust the mainstream media like us. Audiences come to our platforms for information. So, we work to present the latest accurate information shortly.

Speaking on the occasion, Naem Nizam also said, "Our relations with the country's armed forces are very cordial. We regularly report on various issues, including the successes of our military members in the UN peacekeeping mission. This will further strengthen the relationship. 

“For this, the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) will have to play a more robust role”, he also opined.

Brig Gen SM Kamrul Hasan, the Chief Instructor of the DSCSC, said that the media is the fourth pillar of democracy. It is playing an important role in making democracy a success. The East-West Media Group is leading there. I believe this is the reason for the success of always delivering news in accordance with 'News Ethics'. This relationship between our two sides will be more sincere and stronger in the future.

He thanked the East-West Media Group on behalf of the DSCSC for regularly reporting on various issues of the armed forces, including the UN peacekeeping mission.

At the end of the discussion, Major Reza Noor presented the 'Vote of Thanks' on behalf of the trainees. During the meeting, greetings were exchanged between the two sides. During the visit, the East-West Media Group's editorial panel answered various questions of DSCSC trainees.
Later, DSCSC and EWMGL presented crests to each other. 

Participants in the DSCSC course have being visiting the East-West Media Group as part of the course curriculum for the last seven years.
