New models on display to draw buyers
Automakers and exhibitors have brought in new models of cars to meet the demand of the country's growing consumer class and car-lovers at the 14th Dhaka Motor Show that began yesterday.
Mitsubishi Motors, Tata Motors, Subaru, Suzuki India, and Honda are showcasing new models at the country's largest auto show organised by CEMS Bangladesh in association with CEMS Global at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka.
Rangs Limited, authorised distributor of Mitsubishi Motors, is displaying two new models.
The models Eclipse Cross and Mitsubishi Xpander have a capacity of 1500cc and are priced at Tk 43 lakh and Tk 32 lakh respectively.
REL Motors, distributor of Subaru Motors, is showcasing four new models: Forester, BRZ, Impreza, and XV.
Reyad Hasnain, managing director of Subaru Bangladesh, hopes the exhibition will help introduce the Japanese brand Subaru.
“As Subaru emphasises on safety for passengers, it will be able to grab a significant share of the automobile market.”
Honda has put on display Honda HR-V new model, the main attraction of the stall. The Japanese auto-maker unveiled the new model priced at Tk 38 lakh.
Leading automobile distributor Uttara Motors is displaying two vehicles of Japanese brand Suzuki: a premium sedan Ciaz and a multi-utility car Ertiga.
The price of Ciaz is Tk 24 lakh while Ertiga is priced at Tk 23.5 lakh, Hasnain said. Ciaz offers a mileage of 20.28 per litre and Ertiga 18.60 per litre.
Toyota, the most popular brand in Bangladesh, is displaying four existing models and Tata Motors is displaying two existing models.
European brands like Volvo and Peugeot are also displaying their cars.
At the same venue, the fifth Dhaka Bike Show 2019, the third Dhaka Commercial Vehicle Show 2019 and the fourth Dhaka Auto Parts Show 2019 are concurrently taking place.
Some 265 exhibitors from 16 countries, including Bangladesh, Germany, Italy, France, the US, Japan, China, India, and Malaysia, are showcasing their products and services in more than 580 booths.
Local automobile venture Rancon Motorbikes is exhibiting the apparitional cruiser bike of Japanese automobile giant Suzuki at the Dhaka Bike Show.
In a news release, Rancon Motorbikes said the Boulevard M1800 is being exhibited in the three-day show.
The latest trio Suzuki flagships— Hayate 110, Suzuki Bargeman Street 125 and Suzuki GSXR 150—have been added in the exhibition fleet.
“Possessing a strong portfolio of high-end bikes, these three new models will be the game changers in the market, keeping up to the promise to provide stylish and high-quality products for its users as always,” said Shawn Hakim, managing director of Rancon Motor Bikes.
He said Rancon Motor Bikes has been operating in Bangladesh for the past five years and has grown rapidly.
Yamaha has come up with many attractive arrangements and bike-lovers could enjoy the touch and feel of the company's new models, the company said.
In the morning, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun inaugurated the shows.
Enamul Haque Chowdhury, a director of Energypac Power Generation Ltd; Anis Ud Dowla, executive director of Karnaphuli Group, and Meherun N Islam, president and group managing director of CEMS Bangladesh, were present at the opening ceremony.
The exhibition is open to all from 10:30am to 8:30pm.
