Don’t conduct business only
Road Transport and Bridges minister Obaidul Quader on Monday asked the factory owners never to retrench workers in this coronavirus pandemic.
“The workers brought profits to you in memories. Don’t lay off workers nowadays of crisis,” said the minister. Quader came up with the request at an online briefing from his residence in Dhaka.
The retrenchment decision will provoke dissatisfaction as it will end up like pouring water on a drowned mouse, he added.
The minister urged all concerned including BGMEA to coordinate the issue taking into consideration the humanitarian aspect.
Quader requested the owners never to conduct business only but also show sympathy to the helpless people.
