Accept price hike to solve long-term power woes: Quader
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday asked the united states people to accept the power price to get a permanent solution of the power problem.
The minister developed the remarks while addressing a discussion and milad mahfil organized in remembrance of Shaheed Selim-Delwar in the city’s Hatirpool area.
The government has somewhat increased the energy prices aiming to resolve the long-standing problems of electricity in the country, said Quader.
“The electricity price in the united states has been raised a bit to give a long lasting solution to the prevailing power problems,” the minister said.
‘Shaheed Delwar Selim Smrity Parishad’ organised the discussion using its president Abdul Wadud in the chair. Awami League Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak also addressed the discussion, amongst others.
Quader said people have to endure inconveniences a little for ensuring option of cent-percent electricity. As regards to electricity generation, he said the federal government will need to give Taka 3.5 thousands crore subsidies.
This temporary inconvenience should be tolerated, he said.
Quader said people suffered a lot because of load-shedding during the reign of past BNP regime.
Beneath the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, persons are not facing any trouble regarding electricity and water supply, he added.
