Domingo laments insufficient Tests
A decision about Shakib Al Hasan's availability for the next and final Test against the West Indies will be studied within the coming times after the star all-rounder suffered a thigh injury on the second moment of the ongoing initial Evaluation at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
Shakib recovered in time for the Check series after suffering a good groin injury in the third and last ODI against the same opponents ahead of the Check series and even scored a good half-century on his go back in the first innings.
And although he didn't seem a hundred % fit before the start of 1st Test, Shakib had more misfortune as he incurred a brand new injury while trying to avoid the ball off his own bowling.
"He has a little of strain in his thigh. He offers been having treatment for days gone by day or two. Your choice over his availability for the next Test will be produced in the next couple of days. There is nothing confirmed yet. We remain giving him a little time to observe how he gets on," Bangladesh head trainer Russell Domingo advised the media yesterday.
There is discussion about putting more focus on Test cricket, especially away from home, immediately after Domingo filled the Tigers' vacancy in 2019, however the South African expressed disappointment at Bangladesh certainly not having the ability to play more than enough Tests in comparison to other teams all over the world.
"We actually want to give attention to Test cricket. You want to improve. We realize our performance was not good abroad. In expressing that, the team must play more Tests. I look at some groups which have played 16-17 Tests on the globe Test Championship, and I think we've played three. So, it is very tough to get some form, consistency, and design of play when you are playing 3 or 4 Tests per year. This is a double-edged sword because the even more we enjoy, the better we can be. Ideally, our performances can improve," he said.
Anticipations of the pacers were superior and all of the buzz was about giving seamers enough publicity, with the selectors even including five pacers found in the 18-member Check squad for the West Indies series. Nonetheless it arrived as a surprise to numerous after Bangladesh opted to discipline just one single seamer in the sort of left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman for the earliest Test.
"I am always someone to try to get quickly bowlers into the side but it is rather tough on a wicket such as this. That's the challenge. If we consider the West Indies bowling strike, they've got two incredibly experienced quickly bowlers in Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel. But they got maybe three wickets for 230 runs in this Check. This wicket is quite tough for fast bowling. There is no pace and not much bounce. We have to consider those facts when we are participating in in Bangladesh," Domingo said.
The 46-year-old also praised skipper Mominul Haque, who scored his seventh Test hundred in Chattogram. It was also his tenth total, the virtually all by any Bangladesh batsman.
