All the 96 law enforcement stations under Dhaka selection of Bangladesh Police are actually under round-the-clock virtual surveillance to make sure transparency and accountability of regulations enforcers, reports BSS.

Night vision colour IP cameras have already been recording everything outside and inside of the 96 police stations under Dhaka Array Police round-the-clock which helps to ensure transparency and accountability at the police stations concerned, said an official.

"All activities including activity of police personnel, services seekers plus the detainees should be monitored every day and night,” Deputy Inspector Basic (DIG) of Dhaka Spectrum Law enforcement Habibur Rahman told BSS in Dhaka over Tuesdat.

He said, "If necessary, we speak to persons inside custody and hear their factors behind arrest. If we find any anomaly in the authorities station, we provide instruction and issue caution against the officials for solving anomalies to ensure smooth services to people."

"The IP cameras possess a zoom capacity. This allows us to enlarge the graphic or video. We are able to see the environment by turning the surveillance camera to 180 degrees position," Habibur said.

While viewing the monitoring bedroom of DIG Dhaka Range business office, this correspondent found that a workforce of law enforcement is monitoring the businesses of 96 police stations digitally from the area located at Segunbagicha to make sure desired solutions of the tourists in the authorities stations.

So, oftentimes the policemen concerned become surprise when they will be contacted from the number office in case of any inconsistency.

Besides, some concerns like whether girls and children are getting given priority or perhaps not, whether the equal person is repeatedly coming to the work officer's room, the way the sentry is treating the services seekers, if the sentry is sitting down inside during the night after locking the collapsible gate etc are being monitored.

As part of the federal government slogan-"Mujib Borsher Ongikar Police Hobe Jonatar", Bangladesh Police has introduced a remote control monitoring operations system at 96 police stations in 13 districts of Dhaka Range to monitor the activities of most police stations.

Three night vision colour IP cameras have been installed in the work officers' rooms, sentry duty-posts and custody to get the authorities stations under a 24-hour monitoring system, Habibur said adding, "The 30-working day video record of each police station will be kept in the Operations Control and Monitoring Centre."

DIG Habibur Rahman stated the IP cams are recording all actions at the authorities stations incorporating those of allegations, irregularities, mismanagement and carelessness of duty.

"Now people have already started thinking of the police as friends. The authorities force should now breakdown the wall of long-standing mistrust of the persons and at the same time, should work in a manner that does not hurt people's faith once again," he said.

Bangladesh Law enforcement is intimately involved with the persons and the force is accountable for maintaining rules and order found in the country, stopping adulteration, curbing militancy, prosecuting aspirants, curbing crime, assisting found in the establishment of justice, minimizing visitors congestion and maintaining purchase on the roads, including special secureness protocols for VIPs.

The Operations Control and Monitoring Center was create at the Dhaka Selection DIG’s business office in the administrative centre to bring the authorities stations beneath the monitoring system.

The districts having round-the-clock digital monitoring at 96 police stations are in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Narsingdi, Tangail, Kishoreganj, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Madaripur, Rajbari and Shariatpur.

Earlier, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed inaugurated the control center on December 2.

As per the guidelines, information about detainees is taken in every police station every morning and after 10:00pm like whether there are actually any abnormalities in the custody or perhaps not, whether there are actually female detainees or not, whether there are actually female sentries or not, if the jail is clean and tidy or not and whether there are sufficient winter blankets or not, whether the family members of the accused are giving food found in the jail or not, whether there are actually any unusual components with the detainees or not are getting monitored from the monitoring centre. Whenever there is definitely any inconsistency in the activities of any law enforcement station, screenshots are staying taken. When the officers working at the centre discuss watching live video, police personnel of the authorities stations cannot see any video.

In line with the Dhaka Array organogram, there will be one inspector, one SI and two constables in the control place. More DIG (Ops and Cleverness) and additional SP (Ops and Intelligence) will supervise the actions.

During the office hours, the inspector (Functions and Control) will maintain charge of the control place. Officers above the rank of inspector of Law enforcement of the Range Business office will supervise the activities on the guidelines. Urgent information must be communicated straight with the Range DIG.

Since September 2019, the police stations under Dhaka Selection have been brought under rigorous monitoring.
