Mayor candidate 'picked up' found in Madaripur, police station besieged
Police have allegedly found Independent mayor candidate found in Madaripur's Kalkini municipal election and ex - upazila Chhatra Little league president Mashiur Rahman Sabuj.
As the news of Mashiur's arrest by police had spread in Kalkini municipal area, his thousands of followers took to the road and staged demonstration. In addition they besieged the Kalkini Sadar law enforcement station. The angry supporters of Mashiur blocked the roads setting up fire to tyres and vandalising vehicles at Tin Extra near Kalkini Law enforcement Station.
Clash broke out between the supporters of Awami Little league mayoral candidate (Boat) SM Hanif and Independent prospect Mashiur at about 6:30pm which left a lot more than 100 people injured.
There were allegations that Independent mayor prospect Mashiur was found simply by police from Palpara area under the upazila on Saturday afternoon. His supporters alleged that Mashiur gone missing when he would police super's workplace by a jeep of the Kalkini OC.
Witnesses said several bombs were exploded through the clash. Those that were mixed up in clash also vandalised and looted some 200 outlets. The clash was contining till later during the night. Demanding immediate let go of Mashiur, his supporters chanted many slogans against Kalkini Law enforcement Station OC Nasiruddin Mridha.
