Daylong hartal being observed in Noakhali's Companyganj
A daylong hartal is being seen in Noakhali's Companyganj upazila on Saturday following Friday's clash between two rival sets of local Awami Group at Chaprashirhat Bazar that still left 50 people injured.
All of the shops in Basurhat Pourasava remained shut from the morning.
Awami League standard secretary Obaidul Quader's younger brother Abdul Quader Mirza, who's as well the Basurhat Pourasava mayor, and Companyganj Upazila Awami Group organising secretary Mizanur Rahman Badal, called the shutdown around 9:30pm on Friday.
The clash broke out between two rival sets of local Awami League at Chaprashirhat Bazar around 4:45pm on Friday in front of the Awami League office at Chaprashirhat Purbo Bazar.
In order to bring the problem in order, police charged batons, fired blank shots and lobbed teargas shells on the persons locked in the clash.
