‘Business motive’ behind disapproval of GK corona kits: Zafrullah
Gonoshasthya Kendra (GK) founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury on Tuesday alleged that the federal government did not approve the coronavirus antibody and antigen kits developed by their organisation due to a ‘business motive’.
“It’s a good government of businessmen. Consequently, despite the fact that our antibody and antigen kits are prepared, the government hasn't approved those. Nowadays they’ve allowed the import of these with a business goal,” he said.
Zafrullah, also a liberty fighter, made the remarks even while speaking at a programme in Gonoshasthya Kendra Nagar Hospital found in the city’s Dhanmondi spot.
He said GK won't apply to the government seeking approval of its kits. “If the government approves our products alone, we’ll give it with our kits.”
Zafrullah said the government continues to be pursuing a ‘wrong’ insurance plan to support the coronavirus pandemic. “They didn’t approve the corona vaccine trial with time. Gonoshasthya Kendra experienced a lack of Tk 10 crore by producing the corona products as the federal government didn’t approve those. They’ve nowadays permitted the import of the packages from overseas. Such a decision possesses been built as the existing regime is certainly pro-businessmen one.”
Criticising the federal government for what this individual said was its inability to ‘restore discipline’ in medical sector, the liberty fighter explained the country's health program will improve only when a democratic government is set up through a mid-term impartial election.”
He said the federal government should provide all-out support to overall health employees, including doctors and nurses, while they are tackling a good health disaster risking their lives as being frontline fighters. “Those who (doctors and nurses) sacrificed their lives in working with corona patients should be presented the honour as countrywide heroes and the country must remember them.”
At the programme, medical workers of Gonoshasthya Kendra confirmed honour to the corona frontline fighters by clapping for one minute. A similar program happened at the 30 centres of the GK in the united states.
On May 13, GK submitted the samples of GR Covid-19 Quick Dot Blot antigen and antibody kits to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) authorities for the performance trial.
The BSMMU conducted the trial of the antibody kit and found it not totally effective to find the corona patients.
