Biman carries Hajj pilgrims beyond target this year
Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ last pre-hajj flight of this season BG-3383 operated by Boeing 777-300ER left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Jeddah on August 5 at 4:05 pm. Under the Hajj operation 2019 programme of the national carrier, which started from July 4, by operating a total of 181 flights including 149 dedicated and 32 schedule till now, 66,286 Hajj pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.
This year, Biman had a target of carrying 63,599 Hajj pilgrims. However, an additional 1417 Hajj pilgrims scheduled to go by Saudi Airlines flew with Biman instead along with 1270 government representatives.
Also, for the convenience of Hajj pilgrims, Biman, this year, operated 12 flights from Chattogram and 2 from Sylhet to Jeddah as well as flights to Madina, 7 from Chattogram and 1 from Sylhet.
Biman will start its post-hajj operations from August 17, running till September 15. A total of 176 flights including 147 dedicated and 29 schedule will be operated in the post-hajj season.
