President off to India to join Modi's oath-taking
President Abdul Hamid left Dhaka for India Wednesday (May 29) afternoon on a three-day visit to join the oath-taking ceremony of Narendra Modi as India's prime minister.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines VVIP flight BG1513 carrying the president and his entourage members took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:30pm.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, cabinet secretary, chiefs of the three services, the dean of the diplomatic corps and high civil and military officials were present at the airport to see the President off.
Narendra Modi has been elected prime minister of India for the second consecutive term.
However, President Abdul Hamid is scheduled to return home May 31.
