BB to permit clients to settle interbank cross cheques during closure
The central bank yesterday said clients will be permitted to settle their interbank cross cheques to permit the government and businesses to provide emergency support to persons during the ongoing countrywide closure.
The Bangladesh Bank (BB) had earlier said that the Bangladesh Automated Clearing Property, a platform that can be used to clear interbank cheques, will be closed through the 10-day general holidays announced by the federal government.
However the central bank yesterday revised its decision and instructed banks to take expected measures to stay the interbank cross cheque, a BB official explained.
Underprivileged people are certain to get their allowances under the social back-up programmes of the federal government because of the central bank's initiative.
The initiative will help businesses in buying and selling essential commodities, emergency medicines and offer other services, which will ultimately help way to obtain commodities from one place to another in the united states, the official added.
