Banasree has been deflowered: Untold miseries for dusty road
DHAKA: The people those moving through the city’s Banasree area have been experiencing untold miseries due to the dilapidated condition of road.
Not only for very poor condition of the road, the pedestrians and the passengers of the road have to cover their nose and mouth to save them from dust. It can be said that ‘Banasree’, which meaning is flowered forest, has been deflowered.
The road is turned into a road of dust in the winter season. For this, the Banasree area has become virtually a dusty area. The road from Rampura Bridge to Fazary Hospital locates at E block of Banasree remains under shroud of dust in all time. The road has become virtually unusable.
The people of the area are so familiar with the dust. It seems that their sufferings will never end.
Locals blame the plying of truck and lorries, slow construction, potholes and narrow size of the road for the dilapidated condition.
Visiting the area on Saturday (January 20), it was seen that many pedestrians are walking on the road covering their noses and mouths. The passengers, who were in the vehicles, also covered their noses and mouths, as the dust also enter the vehicles.
Didarul Alam, a government official living in the area, told this reporter in front of Banasree Oxford School that the development work on the road is not ended. Their sufferings will also not end. “We are now living a dusty area in the city,” he said.
Hosen Ali, a passenger of Ochhim Paribahan which plies through the road, said that they are passing through dusty road every day. Alongside the dust, they have also been experiencing untold miseries due to poor condition of the road. It seems that there are no authorities of the road, he added.
The road is in a dilapidated condition as a large number of trucks and lorries are plying on the road every day. But the road is not ready for trucks and lorries. Its size is not so wide for the trucks and lorries. There is no footpath on the road.
A resident of the area said that the heavy vehicles plying on the road leading to serious cracks and holes.
In June last year, the High Court in a order suspended the movement of heavy vehicles for several months on the Rampura-Demra road. But the order was not executed.
