Man dies in protest over loud music, 4 held
DHAKA: Police arrested four people over killing a man as he protested the musical celebration in high volume at a Gaye Holud (pre-marriage ritual) in Dhaka’s Wari area.
The arrestees—Altab Hossain, 70, Sazzad Hossain, 42, Mirza Jahid Hasan, 38, and Raiyan Hasnim, 32—were sent to the court following arrest, said Wari Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md Selim Mia.
Earlier, Nazmul, 65, the deceased, fell sick due to the loud music at the Gaye Holud program in front of his house holding no.44 in Ram Krishna Mission Road Friday (January 19).
Nazmul and his son Nasimul was beaten up by several people including one Niloy, Altab and the bride-groom Hridoy, as they requested the event organizers to play music in low volume.
Nazmul fell senseless and was taken to Ajghar Ali Hospital in the locality where on-duty physician announced him dead at around 12:30pm.
Later, Nasimul, as plaintiff, filed a case with Wari Police Station at the night.
