2 devotees die on 2nd day of second phase Ijtema

Two devotees died on the second day of second phase of Biswa Ijtema on Saturday.

The three-day Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslims after hajj, began in Tongi, on the outskirts of Dhaka, after Fazr prayers on Friday.

Deceased Mohor Ali, 60, hailed from Jamalpur, and Shahidullah, 65, from Keraniganj, died at the Ijtema ground early hours.

With this, total six devotees died in the two phases of Ijtema, reports UNB.

Thousands of devotees, both from home and abroad, have gathered at the congregation venue, and are taking part in prayers and discussions.

Some 3917 devotees from 78 countries joined the second phase of Ijtema which will end on Sunday with Akheri Munajat (concluding prayers).

Tabligh Jamaat has been organising the Ijtema since 1967. But, the Ijtema is being held in two phases since 2011 due to accommodation and transportation problem.
