Amphan: People start moving to cyclone shelters in Satkhira, Bagerhat
Inhabitants of low-lying coastal areas in Cox's Bazar, Satkhira and Bagerhat districts have started taking preparations to handle the super cyclone Amphan.

The extreme cyclone Amphan fast approaching towards Bangladesh, between Khulna-Chattogram, and is expected to make landfall between Tuesday night time and Wednesday evening.

Satkhira

Some 1,400 people of two unions under Shyamnagar upazila took shelter in the shelter centres. Volunteers have already been asking the inhabitants of different unions under Gabura, Padmapukur and Ashashuni upazilas to go to the shelter centres through mikings. Warning flag have been hoisted in these areas as a signal of the cyclonic storm.

Gabura union parishad chairman Masudul Alam said some 1,250 persons took shelter at five educationa institutions comprising schools and madrasas at Chandnimukho area on Sunday night.

Padmapukur union parishad chairman Ataul Islam said some 150 persons took shelters at three schools in his union.

Both UP chairmen said arrangement has been made in order that each family can are in a single room maintaining social distance. They have been living there like lockdown at home. There is absolutely no problem.

Satkhira deputy commissioner SM Mostofa Kamal said all types of preparations have been taken. If persons don't want to come, force will be applied to bring them back at the cyclone shelters.

Bagerhat

Some 977 cyclone shlters have already been kept readied for a lot more than 5,50,000 people in Bagerhat district. People will take shelter at these cyclone shelters maintaining medical guidelines. Some 4,86,000 persons should be able to take shelter at the shelter centres.

Bagerhat deputy commissioner Md Mamunur Rashid said preparations have already been taken keeping medical risks of local persons in mind. A crisis meeting has recently held. Control rooms have already been opened at the district and upazilas. The Agricultural Extension Department has been asked to harvest the Boro paddy quickly.

Aside from keeping the cyclone shelters open in the district, schools and colleges in the upazilas have already been kept opened.

Cox's Bazar

A complete of 573 shelters have already been opened at the coastal areas in Cox's Bazar district. 

Some 10,000 volunteers have already been deployed at 34 Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhia and Teknaf under the supervision of Bangladesh Army.

Besides, the Army personnel and volunteers have made the packets of puffed rice, crushed rice, molasses and normal water.
