5 killed in Netrakona road accident
At least five persons were killed and 15 others injured whenever a pickup van carrying SSC examinees collided at once with a truck at Durgapur upazila in Netrakona district on Saturday night.
The identities of the deceased cannot be known immediately.
Witnesses said a sand-laden truck rammed the pick-up van, carrying the SSC examinees, at Shantipur on Shyamganj-Durgapur road around 9:15 pm, leaving two people dead at that moment and 15 others critically injured.
The injured were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where there more succumbed with their injuries.
Quoting witnesses, additional police super Ashraful Alam said some students who appeared at SSC examinations went see Garo hills at Durgapur from Gouripur in Mymensingh.
If they were returning, the automobile carrying them collided head-on with a truck, leaving two dead at that moment while three died on their way to the hospital.
Receiving information, the Durgapur Police Station OC Mizanur Rahman arrived at the spot.
