40 gold bars seized at Sylhet airport
The customs authorities detained a man with forty gold bars, weighing 4 kg 640 grams, from Osmani International Airport in the district on Wednesday (September 19).
Gold bars were found in the rear seat of a passenger, Jahid, coming from Dubai as the flight landed at the airport at 7:15 am, said Md Ahsan Ullah, custom official of the airport.
The seized gold will be handed over to Bangladesh Bank’s Sylhet branch. A case has been filed with SMP’s airport police station under customs act 1069. The market price of seized gold is worth about Tk 2 crore, he added.
