3 children drown in ponds
Three children died in two separate drowning incidents in ponds in Nabiganj upazila on Monday (September 2) evening.
The deceased were identified as Shahan Mia, 10, son of Ajman Miah of Jahidpur village of Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj, his younger brother Rahan Mia, 7, and Supto Baishnav, 9, son of Samarendra Baishnav of Berandam village of Shalla upazila of Sunamganj district.
Shahan and Rahan fell in the pond nearby their house and drowned while playing beside it in the evening at Purbo Jahidpur village of the upazila, said their family members.
After a good search, family member rescued them from the pond and took them to Nabiganj Upazila Health Complex where doctors pronounced them dead, Officer in charge (OC) of Nabiganj Police Station Iqbal Hossain told Banglanews.
Besides, Supto drowned in a pond at his relative’s house in Nabiganj upazila in the afternoon.
Later, villagers and family members rescued him and took him to upazila health complex where doctor declared him dead.
Dr Sabiha Chowdhury of the Upazila Health Complex confirmed the matter to media.
