12th Int'l Children's Film Festival begins today
The 12th International Children's Film Festival will begin today featuring 179 films from 32 countries simultaneously at four venues in the city.

National Professor Anisuzzaman will formally inaugurate the weeklong festival while Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmood is scheduled to be present as the chief guest on the occasion.General Secretary of Children's Film Society Munira Morshed said that Abir Fedous was elected as the festival director while filmmaker Morshedul Islam and eminent writer Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal members of the committee, reports, BSS.

She said the films will be screened every day at 11am, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm at Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library, Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum, National Art Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and British Council Auditorium in Fuller Road. The screenings are free for all.

"One of the main attractions of the festival will be the Bangladeshi Children Filmmakers' Section where 68 films were submitted and of which 25 were selected for screening. Five films will be awarded from this section," Munira said.Children Film Society Bangladesh has been organizing the festival since 2008. It is one of the biggest film festivals in Bangladesh and also the only international film festival dedicated to children.
