129 magistrates deployed for polls duty
With a view to checking crimes and untoward situation during the forthcoming Dhaka City Corporation polls slated for February 1, the Ministry of Public Administration has deployed 129 admin cadres as executive magistrates.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a circular in this regard stating, “The magistrates will run mobile courts for the period between January 30 and February 2 to maintain law and order in the electoral areas.”
The magistrates are asked to join under Dhaka district magistrate on January 29. The district magistrate of Dhaka will distribute the duties among them as per requirement, it added.
Executive Magistrates have been asked to attend an election briefing at Shilpakala Academy on January 30 at 3 pm. Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka will be present at the briefing.
This time, Dhaka North City Corporation will have 1,318 polling centres for 30.9 lakh enlisted voters.
In South City Corporation, there will be 6,589 polling booths at 1,150 polling centers with 24.52 lakh enlisted voters.
