10 killed as train hits microbus in Sirajganj
Ten people, including bride and bridegoom,were killed and four others injured as a train rammed into microbus carrying a bridal party on the unmanned Ullapara level-crossing on Monday (July 15) evening.
The deceased were identified as bridegroom Rajon, 25, of Kandapara village in Sadar upazila, bride Sumiya Khatun, 21, Mamata, 35, wife of Asharaf Ali of same village, Shafiul, 19, son of late Abdus Salam of same area, Alif, 9, Nur Alam, 35, of Soydabad area, Sharif, 32, Khokon, 24, of Raiganj upazila and microbus driver Swadhin Miah, 55 of Kamarkhanda upazila.
The Dhaka-bound train 'Padma Express' from Rajshahi crashed into the microbus while crossing over the rail-crossing in Panchacroshi area at around 6:45pm. Nine passengers of the microbus died on the spot while some five were injured.
Mosharrof Hossian, sub inspector of Ullapara police station, told Banglanews that later, another succumbed to his injuries. other injured were sent to nearby hospitals. The condition of some injured is critical.
