West Bengal musicians mourn demise of AB
Ayub Bacchu is an icon and mentor among many musicians in West Bengal. His demise has brought grief among them too. Many celebrated musicians of the region such as Kabir Suman, Anupam Roy, and many others have shared their grief on their social media posts.
Famous musician Kabir Suman wrote on his Facebook profile: "Ayub Bacchu is no more? I was the one supposed to go. But he went. Damn it. What an artist, what a nice human being! Damn!"
Another popular musician, Anupam Roy, wrote on his official Facebook fan page: "It's hard to believe Bacchu bhai's (Ayub Bacchu) sudden demise. Bangla music will always remember this talented human being."Celebrated singer in both Bengals, Sahana Bajpaie, wrote on her Facebook page: "Thank you Bacchu bhai for making our world more colorful.
Rupom Islam, frontman of popular West Bengal band "Fossils," wrote a column in daily Ajkal expressing his grief on the matter.He wrote that he was "shocked and shattered" after hearing the news of the Bangladeshi rockstar's death. He also said this loss to him was like losing his own elder brother.
He also mentioned: "No one supported my passion for Bangla rock at the beginning. Two people who did were, Maksudul Haque and Ayub Bacchu."Ayub Bacchu frequently came to visit Kolkata and each time I went to visit him. He chatted with us, ate with us, and not to mention I wasn't established at that time. Yet he always inspired me," he wrote.
Rupom also wrote: "Ayub Bacchu bhai always said that there isn't Bangla rock in Kolkata. The path you are walking is the right path and you will bring Bangla rock to this region."
