'Bhoy' wins award in Delhi festival
Bangladeshi short film 'Bhoy - The Fear of Silence' won the Best Short Film Award at the 7th Delhi International Film Festival 2018 in New Delhi, India. This 22-minute long short film was directed by young Bangladeshi director Zuairijah Mou. 'Bhoy - The Fear of Silence' was inspired by Nabarun Bhattacharya's story, 'Mritodeho Dorshon.'

Director Mou expressed her proud feelings talking to Showtime: "First, it was a great honour for me to represent Bangladesh in such a big platform. Many film directors-producers across the world get together at such festivals and the opportunity of networking that I got being a part of this event was really a great experience in my film career.

I got to watch movies from different countries with the film-makers and was able to know many aspects of their filmmaking. They were also showing interest in Bangladeshi films. Such an achievement really leaves a positive impact on the present and future state of film-making."

The story of the film centres on the life of a traumatized individual named Niloy. He is a writer who experiences an existential crisis in the wake of the social and political enigmas of Bangladesh. The film travels back to the time of the blogger murders and narrates a story about the importance of freedom of speech. The film was funded by the government of Bangladesh and it was a Bangladesh Cinema & Television Institute production.
