New Barishal mayor, councillors take oath
Newly elected Barishal City Corporation Mayor Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah and councillors took oath on Monday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina administered the oath of the Mayor at Shapla Hall of her office.
Later, the newly elected 30 councillors of general wards and 10 female councillors (reserved seats) were sworn in at the same venue.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain administered the oath to the councillors.
Local Government Division Senior Secretary Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan conducted the oath-taking ceremony.
Awami League-backed Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah was elected Barishal Mayor contesting BCC election that held on July 30 last.
