War criminal Azhar's appeal hearing ends, verdict any day
The Supreme Court on Wednesday ended the appeal hearing against death penalty of convicted war criminal and former Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam.
The SC will deliver its verdict any day.
An Appellate Division bench, headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, passed this order.
On June 18, the SC began the hearing on the appeal petition filed by Azharul, assistant secretary general of Jamaat.
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on December 30, 2014 sentenced Azharul to death for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
Later on, Azharul filed an appeal with the SC challenging the verdict.
