UN launches $943mn plan to ‘safeguard well-appearing, dignity’ of Rohingyas
Beneath the leadership of the government of Bangladesh, the business for Migration (IOM) and UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) have launched a $943 million intend to "safeguard the well-being and dignity" of Rohingya refugees in the united states and their host communities.

For the almost 900,000 Rohingyass in Bangladesh, 2021 marks the fourth season since their mass displacement from Myanmar, which was preceded by decades of influxes triggered by systematic discrimination and targeted violence, reports UNB.

The 2021 Joint Response Method joins Bangladesh with 134 UN agencies and NGO partners to "meet up with the needs greater than 880,000 Rohingya refugees and 472,000 Bangladeshis in the encompassing host communities in Cox's Bazar District", said UNHCR spokesperson Andrej Mahecic on Tuesday.

Although Bangladesh and the international community have already been providing immediate life-saving assistance, the needs are immense, in line with the UN News.

And complex issues continue to emerge and reshape the nature of the response, like the Covid-19 pandemic, which includes compounded vulnerabilities for refugees and host communities alike.

Although the trajectory of the virus remains unpredictable, Bangladesh, with the support of the humanitarian community, has efficiently managed the Covid-19 response and the spread of the disease in the large Rohingya camps and surrounding areas.

New layers of complexity are the ongoing crisis and political instability over the nearby Myanmar border.

Beyond physical safety

The wants of Rohingya refugees reach beyond subsistence and physical safety, they also require usage of education and options for a decent lifestyle, based on the UN agencies.

To mitigate the risks of refugees acquiring dangerous onward journeys simply by land or sea to locate a solution elsewhere, more should be done to provide expect refugees sheltering found in Bangladesh, and an authentic future back home.

"The search for durable solutions must remain centered on the voluntary, secure, dignified and sustainable go back of Rohingya refugees with their homes in Myanmar, when conditions allow them to take action," they said in a statement.

Meanwhile, it is advisable to maintain the delivery of most humanitarian assistance and protection services.

"The intercontinental community must continue to advocate for sustainable solutions in Myanmar that could eventually facilitate what all Rohingya refugees possess constantly voiced as their main concern - to return home", said IOM chief Antonio Vitorino.
