Two suspected drug traders killed in 'shootout'
Two suspected drug dealers were killed in separate incidents of gunfight between two gang of criminals in Sadar and Doulatpur upazilas of Kushtia early Wednesday.

With this, the number of deaths in anti-drugs crackdown stood at 244 across the country since May 12.

Acting on secret information that two gang of 'drug peddlers' were exchanging bullets, a team of police went to Kaburhat Madrasa Para in Sadar upazila around 2am, Kushtia Model Police Station OC Nasir Uddin said. 

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the gang members opened fire on police, forcing them to fire back fir self-defence.

Later, police rescued an unidentified man, injured with bullets, and took him to Kushita General Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

A foreign gun and 800 Yaba pills were recovered from the spot, the OC said.

Meanwhile, a team of police conducted a drive at Muslimnagar Field in Daulatpur upazila early hours where a gang of criminals were exchanging bullets, Shah Dara, officer in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station, said.

Sensing presence of the team, the criminals managed to flee the scene 

Later, police recovered the body of Madan, 45, son of Rifaz Uddin, a resident of Jamal village.

Madan was wanted in number of cases. 

Police also recovered a pistol, three bullets, 900 Yaba pills and 30 bottles of Phensedyl from the scene.
