Two latest deputy governors appointed
The federal government yesterday appointed two fresh deputy governors to the central bank.
Bangladesh Bank's Executive Director Kazi Sayedur Rahman and Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank's Managing Director AKM Sajedur Rahman Khan have already been recruited for the articles, according to two separate circulars issued by the financing ministry.
The duo will serve the banking regulator on the posts until they turn 62.
Sayedur will strike the 62 years' tag on Jan 1, 2025, and Sajedur on Feb 1, 2024. Sayedur began his job with the central lender in 1988 as an assistant director.
He was promoted as standard manager for the forex reserve and treasury operations section of the central lender in 2011 and executive director in 2016.
He completed BCom (honours) in accounting and MCom from Dhaka University.
Sajedur was promoted simply because the managing director of Rakub this past year.
Ahead of this appointment, he was first the deputy managing director of Sonali Lender. He completed his graduation and post-graduation in economics from Jahangirnagar University.
With the addition of Sayedur and Sajedur, the banking watchdog now has four deputy governors.
Both others are SM Moniruzzaman and Ahmed Jamal.
The post of both deputy governors fell vacant in 2016 when the federal government removed Abul Kashem and Nazneen Sultana after a hacker group stole $101 million from the central bank's foreign exchange reserve.
