Those don’t want Padma Bridge spreading rumours: Minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said those who do not want that the Padma Bridge is constructed are spreading 'human sacrifice' rumours for the bridge.
"The anti-liberation forces have been out to do harm to the country in various ways. They don't want that the country goes forward," he said while talking to reporters after a meeting with law enforcement agencies at his ministry on the observance of the National Mourning Day on August 15.
The home minister, however, said they will not be able to stop the Padma Bridge work through spreading rumours. "The work will be completed in time."
He said 100 people have so far been arrested over spreading rumours.
He also said actions will be taken against those who are spreading rumours from abroad after identifying them.
Child-lifting rumours spread by a vested group has claimed the lives of a number of people and injured dozens others across the country.
Turning to militancy, Asaduzzaman said it could not be rooted out fully but remained under control. "We're trying to stamp out militancy."
Law enforcers and intelligence agencies remained alert against any possible sabotage plot over upcoming National Mourning Day and Eid-ul-Azha, he said.
