Authorities urge not to pay heed to Padma Bridge rumours
Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) on Tuesday urged the people not to be confused to a rumour about the need for human sacrifice for the Padma Bridge project.
The urged was made at a notice signed by Project Director Md Shafikul Islam today (Tuesday).
The notice said the bridge authority had noticed propaganda spreaded by a certain group on social media. "We want to clearly say it's a rumour. There is no truth. Spreading such rumour is a criminal offence. Countrymen are being requested not to pay heed to such rumour."
Meanwhile, the 14th span of the Padma Bridge was installed on Saturday afternoon making 2,100 metres of the mega structure visible.
Work on the bridge started in December 2015.
The 6.15-kilometre bridge is expected to boost the GDP by 1.2 percent once it is in operation.
