Speedboat driver among four sued
A case has been filed against the speedboat driver and three others over Monday's collision between your vehicle and a bulkhead cargo in the Padma River in Shibchar of Madaripur that left 26 persons dead.
Kanthabari river police outpost SI Lokman Hossain lodged the case on Tuesday morning.
Boatman Shahlam, owner Chandu, Rezaul and Shah Alam Khan have been manufactured accused in the case, river police's OC Abdur Razzaq confirmed.
Shibchar Police Station sources said injured driver Shahlam was firstadmitted to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex. Later, he was shifted to Fardpur Medical College Hospital on Monday amid tight security pursuing deterioration of his condition
A passenger carrying speedboat sailed from Munshiganj's Shimulia around 6:45am on Monday for Banglabazar ferryghat in Shibchar.
Suddenly, the speedboat sank in the river soon after being hit by the sand-laden bulkhead.
On information, fire service divers from Shibchar and Jajira fire stations rushed to the spot and recovered 26 bodies.
In addition they rescued six individuals alive and whisked them off to local hospital where two individuals died.
