Sk Russel to enter cricket: Sayem Sobhan Anvir
Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited Chairman and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir said that he'll build up a club cricket workforce that will enter into the country’s domestic cricket in the near future. 

“I’ve announced a number of days ago that I will build up a cricket team found in Sk Russel. However, we've lagged behind as a result of Covid-19 condition. We were unable to hold an in-person assembly or have any initiative regarding the plan due to the outbreak. But mainly because I've made a commitment, I will keep my phrase,” Sayem Sobhan told the reporters following the club elections at the International Convention City in Bashundhara on Saturday.  

“As a recognised club, you want to take part in the country’s other athletics. 3 or 4 months in the past, we announced that people will enter into cricket. But the Covid-19 situation became worse once again. I’ve announced, Sk Russel will obviously enter cricket,” he added.  
Sayem Sobhan won the polls with a completely vote and became the first director of the 30-member board in the maiden election (2021-2024) of Sk Russel.

The daily Bangladesh Pratidin editor, News24 CEO and Radio Capital CEO Naem Nizam and The daily Kaler Kantho editor and prominent novelist Imdadul Haq Milan were also elected as the directors.  

Amongst others, Liaquat Ali Khan, Maksudur Rahman, Shahin Ahmed, Mohammed Ful Miah, Habibur Rahman Khan, BA Jahedul Huqe Mitu, Md Alimuzzaman Khan, Al Mahruf Anayet Hossain, Md Hedayet Ullah, Asadur Rahman Khan, SM Jahangir, Mohammed Golam, Capt Nazmul Haque, Md Rafiqul Alam, Mir Md Shahabuddin Tipu, Mohammad Tariqul Islam Chowdhury, Engr Lakshman Kumar Dey, Ismat Jamil Akhond, Md Fakhruddin, SM Hassan Zaman, Md Abubakar, Saleh Zaman Salim, Hamidul Hoque, Md Abul Kashem, Md Khalilur Rahman, Belayet Hossain Bapari and Md Asaduzzaman ACS were elected. 

The directors have been elected for another four years 2021-2024. The board will nowadays choose the chairman, a senior vice-president, two vice-chairmen, a director in-charge, a financing director and a activities director. 

Sayem Sobhan, who found the polling center to cast his vote, further said that he previously a plan to develop a football academy and a playground for Sk Russel.

“We’ve likewise promised to develop a soccer academy and a playground. However when we began to focus on our strategies, the pandemic halted us this past year. I imagine Sk Russel will regain their shed glory once again. I don’t play soccer on the field but I will perform everything for the achievement of the golf club,” he said.  
The country’s prominent sports organiser also urged other football clubs and corporate companies to step of progress for the development of football. 

“We all can see that Bangladesh are lagging behind in soccer. However, we are continue slowly. In future, soccer will also recognition like cricket. Everything will happen gradually.

“Everyone should step of progress to patronise soccer. The world’s most preferred sport is usually football, certainly not cricket. But I have no idea why football is suffering so many negligence in Bangladesh. I think there is so much scope to build up in this sport. We, Bashundhara Group, have established a sports sophisticated. There are lots of big clubs, big teams here. I think they also needs to come forward and build-up academies for the production of the country’s soccer,” he added

The voting contest happened from 09:30am to 12:30pm. Bangladesh Football Federation 1st vice-president and Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hassan was the chief election commissioner while BFF standard secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag and representatives from different premier group clubs were also present there as observers. 

A complete of 88 away of 98 voters exercised their votes to elect a 30-member board of directors from 60 candidates. Four out of 88 votes had been null and void.  

Previously, the club’s AGM, chaired by simply its chairman Sayem Sobhan, happened last November.
