BCB ideas effective bio-bubble for SL series
Bangladesh Cricket Board will be eyeing not to replicate the same mistake of Indian Premier Group authorities when they host the three-match one-day overseas series against Sri Lanka this month.

The 14th edition of IPL, the biggest cash-rich T20 franchise cricket little league, was recently postponed indefinitely after several cricketers, coaches and officials of numerous franchises tested Covid-19 positive despite being in the secure bio-bubbles.

Before IPL Governing Council and Board of Control for Cricket in India’s unanimous decision to postpone IPL 2021 season on Tuesday, a complete of 29 out of 60 matches were played in three different cities in India.

Although both parties spent millions of dollars to build guarded bio-bubbles to carry the tournament, BCB Chief Medical professional Debashis Chowdhury feared that there will be some breaches that spoiled the bio-bubbles.

“We happen to be trying to determine how this happened in IPL? The last period when they hosted it in Dubai (UAE), there was no collapse in the bio-bubble. The sort of bio-bubble they organized, it is only conceivable by IPL authorities, no person else,” Debashis informed The Daily Sunshine on Friday.

“We heard that they didn’t isolate the resort employees and it may be the weak spot. We also been told that they didn’t isolate the groundsmen as well. In Dubai, everyone stayed in the same resort at the same time and in India, the fits were played in several cities.

“Airport terminal is also a major concern although they travelled mostly on chartered flights. Even so, they followed the normal procedures to enter or exit from the flights. Hence these three could possibly be the cause of breaching the bio-bubble in IPL,” he added.

Since cricket returned following the Covid-19 pandemic break, BCB arranged numerous household and international series successfully and Debashis informed that they followed some desperate procedures to make the bio-bubble better ones.

BCB arranged or perhaps supervised domestic tournaments found in famous brands BCB President’s Cup, Bangabandhu T20 Glass, Bangabandhu Bangladesh Game titles cricket occasions, National Cricket Group (two rounds) and hosting West Indies national workforce, Ireland Wolves and South Africa Emerging women’s team in recent months.
As Sri Lanka ODI crew is set to reach on May 16, Debashis said they might isolate the hotel personnel and groundsmen a week before their arrival in Bangladesh and they will undergo the Covid-19 test several times in the meantime.

“We usually isolate the hotel personnel first of all. Sri Lanka will enter on 16th (May) but we will isolate the resort employees seven days before they arrive. They won’t get Eid-leave as well. We will isolate the groundsmen also weekly before they arrive,” he said.

“Bangladesh may be the only country that is isolating the groundsmen and also testing them many times. I don’t think other countries stick to the same methods. The various other countries will be keeping the groundsmen at a distance.

“We tried it in Ireland series but as the rainy time of year is coming, it won’t be effective we guess in those days. The main thing is to monitor them properly as some of them make an effort to walk out bio-bubble quite often. We are employing just one location so it will likewise be an advantage for us,” he added.

Debashis, however, admitted that it'll be a tough require them to host Dhaka Premier Group, starting on May 31, in the same plan, as you will have so many teams and will very likely be held in different venues as well.

“BCB medical device will advise BCB to employ 3 to 4 different accommodations during DPL time in any other case if anyone is contaminated then your whole hotel people may suffer the same implications,” he said.

Debashis added that players who came back from Sri Lanka tend to begin their practice on Sunday as they are yet to get written documents from the Ministry of Health and wellbeing.

The Sri Lanka returnees didn’t join all of those other preliminary members on Fri as they just received verbal permission from the ministry. The rest of the others resumed their practice after daybreak.

“We have been given permission verbally (by the ministry of health) to begin their practice. But we are yet to get the written document…Cricket businesses department will decide whether they will practice on Saturday or the next day,” he concluded.
