Six Asian girls killed in shootings at US spas
Eight people, including at least six Asian women, have already been killed on shootings at three different spas in the US state of Georgia.
Police said four persons were killed at a good massage parlor found in Acworth, a good suburb north of Atlanta, and four more in two spas in the city itself.
Officials said a 21-year-old man have been arrested and was first thought to be the suspect in every three attacks.
Zero motive for Tuesday's shootings has yet been established.
Even so, hate crimes against Asian-Americans have spiked lately, fuelled simply by rhetoric that blames Asian persons for the spread of Covid-19.
In an address the other day, President Joe Biden condemned "vicious hate crimes against Asian-Americans who've been attacked, harassed, blamed and scapegoated."
The first shooting happened at about 17:00 (21:00 GMT) at Youngs Asian Massage therapy Parlor in Acworth, Cherokee County.
Sheriff's office spokesman Capt Jay Baker stated two persons died at the picture and 3 were taken to hospital, where two considerably more died. He later confirmed that the victims had been two Asian women, a white girl and a white guy, and that a Hispanic man had been wounded.
Less than one hour later, law enforcement were called to a good "robbery happening" at Gold Spa in north-east Atlanta.
"Upon arrival, officers located three females deceased within the site from apparent gunshot wounds," law enforcement said in a statement.
While now there, officers were called to a spa next door, called Aromatherapy Spa, where they found an other woman shot dead.'
Law enforcement quoted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said that all 4 Atlanta victims were Asian women of all ages.
Investigators who exactly had studied CCTV footage then released pictures of a suspect near one of the spas. Police explained that, after a manhunt, Robert Aaron Long, of Woodstock, Georgia, was arrested in Crisp County, about 150 kilometers (240km) south of Atlanta.
Capt Baker said investigators were "very confident" that the same suspect was the gunman in all three shootings.
Authorities say it really is prematurily . in the investigation to know if the victims were targeted due to their competition or ethnicity.
On the other hand, the advocacy group Stop AAPI Hate [Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders] referred to as it "an unspeakable tragedy".
