SB chief Monirul warns against anti-Modi protest
The newly-appointed head of the Distinctive Branch of Police Monirul Islam in Sunday termed any protest against Indian prime minister Narendra Modi over his approaching visit to Bangladesh as 'anti-state activities.'

He also warned that any 'subversive' activities during the Indian prime minister's check out would be dealt with 'an iron hand.'

Monirul Islam, who also served as the principal of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Criminal offense unit beneath the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told a press conference at the DMP Headquarters that he, however, anticipated that 'good sense' would prevail among those who announced such protests through the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence where state dignitaries from five countries would join.

"We expect they will refrain from holding anti-state actions that might tarnish the graphic of the country to overseas dignitaries," he stated and warned, "If anyone tries to commit such subversive actions, then the Bangladesh law enforcement, especially DMP, will need legal actions," he said.

Monirul explained that these were terming any protest program as 'anti-state rather than 'anti-government so long as it considerations the preservation of the picture of the country in the eye of the dignitaries.

The DMP's acting commissioner said that the five heads of state or governments from India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Nepal will be visiting Dhaka between March 17 and March 26 amid the on-going construction work of the metro rail project and traffic may be hampered because of the motion of the dignitaries.
