Reactor support truss installed at Rooppur Plant’s Unit 1
Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant construction on Monday achieved another milestone with the installation of reactor support truss at Unit 1.
“The role of support truss is to fix the reactor vessel in place and to bear its weight loads. It was installed as per the design, prepared by Atomstroyexport (ASE), engineering division Russia’s state corporation- Rosatom,” according to a release.
“It is a very complicated job which needs maximum possible accuracy. Installation was completed ahead of schedule thanks to well co-ordinated efforts of our employees and the people of the construction site,” noted Sergey Lastochkin, ASE Vice-President and Director for Rooppur NPP Construction Project.
“Construction works of Units 1 and 2 are progressing according to the schedule.”
The first unit of 1,200 MW capacity is expected to be in operation by 2023 and the second with same capacity will be functional in 2024.
