Prof Muntasir Mamun shifted to cabin; Medical board formed
Veteran historian Professor Muntasir Mamun, hospitalised with coronavirus, has been shifted to the cabin from the ICU at Mugda Medical College Hospital in Dhaka following improvement of his condition.

Dr Mahbubur Rahman, hospital's Covid-19 dedicated doctors committee  spokesperson, told media on Tuesday morning, "He's doing very well now and being shifted to the cabin."

Meanwhile, a medical board has been formed for his treatment at the Prime Minister's directives.

The six-member board was formed at 12:30pm.

The hospital's Covid-19 dedicated doctors committee president Prof Dr Monilal Aich Litu told media that Prime Minisher Sheikh Hasina has been inquiring about Mamun's condition. Her office asked to form a board on Monday evening, he added.

Muntasir Mamun, a professor (Bangabandhu Chair) of the annals department at Dhaka University, was admitted to Mugda Medical College Hospital in Dhaka with coronavirus-like symptoms on Sunday evening.

He tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.

The family sources said sample from Muntasir was collected 10 days ago for coronavirus test as he came in touch with his coronavirus infected mother, who's now undergoing treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital.

But, he found negative for the virus in the report.

Suddenly, he felt breathing issues on Sunday and the members of the family took him to a healthcare facility.
